Daily diary: 2026-07-09 — Session 2

A short evening session on the session workflow itself, run as a live test of the day-old kickoff skills: each invocation drew immediate feedback from @jwildfire and a same-hour fix. The kickoff list became the deliverable (no closing prompt), session-checklist became session-todo — rendering the persisted kickoff list plus scratchpad additions and notes — session-overview became session-init with its evidence sweep pushed into parallel subagents, and the wrapup checkpoint became three fixed questions with the substance embedded in the prompt. All commits to main authored by obotclaw[bot].

Session-lifecycle skills: tested live, reworked on feedback

• First kickoff-skill run (background session, self-named per the new convention): evidence swept, prioritized list delivered — and @jwildfire's feedback ("none — just give me the list") became the first fix: the list is the deliverable; no closing "which item should I start?" prompt (3968eb9).
• session-checklist → session-todo (feb7296): the todo view now renders one formatted list — kickoff priorities + session-update additions + session-note notes — instead of only the scratchpad items.
• The kickoff list is now persisted: new step 4 writes the presented list to the scratchpad's ## Overview section (skeleton updated in session-update), so /session-todo can re-render it all session (1db9e4b).
• session-overview → session-init, sweep delegated to subagents (d4b29a9): the evidence sweep (issue/PR lists, board JSON, diaries, scratchpad, memory) now runs in two parallel read-only subagents returning one-line digests — raw listings stay out of the main session's context, which this session burned freely doing the sweep inline. Session-naming convention follows: session init YYYY-MM-DD, orange.
• Wrapup checkpoint reworked to three fixed questions (2a534eb): (1) key accomplishments — anything to add? (2) proposed scaffold improvements — agree? (3) top-3 next-session priorities — agree? The substance must live in the question prompt itself — @jwildfire sees only the prompt while answering, so a draft shown earlier in chat is no preview at all (tonight's lesson, now in memory for all AskUserQuestion use).
• One diary post per session (@jwildfire's call at this wrapup): later sessions on the same day are separate posts named diary/YYYY-MM-DD-N.md, titled "{date} — Session N" — this entry is the first. render_diary.mjs and the wrapup skill updated accordingly (landed with this entry).
• Workspace symlinks swapped for both renames; today's scratchpad seeded with the kickoff list (8 open items); bg-session-identity and wrapup-interactive-checkpoint memories updated.

3. Roadmap cleanup sweep — hub bodies/stages/milestones board-wide, gsm.agent PR #33 check via the local clone, stale gsm.safety items (#27/#28/PR #29).

The next kickoff also validates the reworked /session-init end to end: subagent sweep, persisted ## Overview list, /session-todo re-render.
